Lisbon Day 2

The weather was fine on the second day of Lisbon, so we went to "Jerónimos Monastery ". Built in the 1500s, this monastery was very large and magnificent and beautiful.

                                                                    "Ceiling of the corridor"

"courtyard"

We didn't see any workers here without tourists, but it was cleaned very well.

There is one church next to the monastery.

The casket of "Vasco da Gama" was also installed.

The 52-meter-high monument was centered around Prince Henry the Navigator, who was sitting facing the sea, and placed people who were active during the Age of Discovery, such as Vasco da Gama. There is an elevator inside, and you can see the city of Lisbon from the rooftop.

"Belem Tower"

Belem tower and the  Jerónimos Monastery are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

From the window, you can see the "April 25th Bridge" and the promenade from the "Monument of Discovery".

After enjoying the seaside scenery, head to "Lisbon Cathedral"

It is the oldest church in Lisbon, whose architecture began in the 1100s.

At the end of the day, we climbed up to the castle ruins on the highest hill in Lisbon to see the sunset.

"São Jorge Castle"

Around the 2nd century BC, the fortification had already started, so it feels more like a "castle ruin" than a castle.

The trademark of this castle seems to be "peacock", and free-range peacocks were walking, but it is dangerous to get too close.

The people were relaxing and chatting while seeing the beautiful sunset.

It was a little bit cloudy, but we were able to enjoy the sunset with the beautiful cityscape of Lisbon.
